Windows 10: most of my apps on my desktop have a red cross on them

    Cross on Desktop Icons

    Hi all,

    I have just got a Dell Inspiron 3910 with Windows 11.

    Some of my desktop icons have a white cross in a red circle on them instead on the white square with the blue arrow.

    Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to fix this (I am not an IT expert)

    Thank you for your response!

    The red crosses do have a circle around them; I've attached a screenshot of my desktop as well. I'm not sure if I'm connected to any network drives, I don't even know what those are.

    I tried the steps for disconnecting any network drives, but again the same thing's happening, when I click "My PC" the bar on the top keeps loading forever (green bar) and I can't do anything about it.

    I've already unsynced my OneDrive, but for some reason, some apps are still synced with OneDrive because I can still see the icon when those apps are open (like the Windows Photos app). But I'll try disabling or uninstalling it as well.

    All the files that I created recently have a red cross on them. This refers to different formats (Excel, World, PowerPoint). What is it and how to get rid of this red cross? Thank you.
