Windows 10: Motherboard failure?

My Asus Z87 motherboard computer is continually making the sound of a USB being disconnected and reconnected. Device Mgr. shows a yellow error code at 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' > 'Unknown USB Device Device descriptor Request Failed. Device Mgr. 'Events' states -DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE:00FF2000 Device Updated: false Parent Device: USB\VID_0451&PID_8142\MSFT203003084907F3The device is a Texas Instruments TUSB8041 4 port hub.I have uninstalled and reinstalled every usb device and hub shown on Device Mgr. I have made a new clean install of Windows 10 Pro, installed any new

Choice of memory and motherboard... a bit stuck...

No one who got some suggestions on this one, huh?

I've found out that the Asus M3A78-T needs to be flashed, so then that motherboard is excluded from my list. Which motherboard and memory should I then go for? Any suggestions?

It depends on how Windows 10 was originally configured on your computer.

If its a full retail store bought license online or offline, it is transferable to a new computer or motherboard.

If its the free upgrade from a retail store bought Windows 7 or Windows 8 license, it is transferable to a new computer or motherboard.

If its the free upgrade from a OEM preinstalled Windows 7 or Windows 8 license, it is NOT transferable to a new computer or motherboard.

The FX-9370 has a 220W TDP, making it an outlier. It appears that some 990FX based motherboards support it, but they seem to be only available on the used market.

The obvious choice would be to replace CPU (with a Ryzen 2000 or 3000 series), MB (Socket X470 or X570), and RAM (DDR4). It wouldn't be necessary to buy a high-end CPU to outperform the FX-9370. If the OP can afford it, that'd be the way to go.
