Hello everyone I am buying a i5 2nd gen processor 1155 acer/lenovo motherboard with 4gb ddr3 ram. My question is will it run smoothly on my Nvidia GTS 450 with the 391.24 driver on a windows 10 64 bit proffessional computer?

Intel Z97 Chipset Compatibility with Windows 10 64-bit?

    HELLO all

I have had one person tell me that if I want to try and install Windows 10 64-bit onto my current 7 32-bit PC, I
CAN'T because of my motherboard's chipset, which is Intel Z97.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI. The processor is
Intel Core i5-4690 Haswell, which supposedly is 64-bit compatible.

Thing is, I can't find ANY reference elsewhere (including the Intel site) regarding chipsets and running 64-bit. The Gigabyte website lists my motherboard as being "Windows compatible" but doesn't say 32 or 64 bit.

Any info would be appreciated, THANKS!

(I haven't learned too much about chipsets yet, so please don't get too technical!)

  3. Can 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 10 support different processors

I have a 32-bit Windows 7 and a 64-bit Windows 7, I upgraded our old XP on a 64-bit machine to 64-bit with a semi-clean install (files preserved in windows.old), but then when I tried to upgrade to Windows 10 it told me the processor was incompatible and
I hadn't considered the RAM issues. So now I know that it needs 2 Gig Ram and I can get that but it says processor is not compatible.

Can I install the 32-bit Windows 7 instead of the 64-bit and get a different result from the compabibility checker? Are there processors supported by the 32-bit Windows 10 that aren't supported by the 64-bit?

I just don't want to do yet another install of windows 7 to find the processor is not supported in 32-bit mode either for a Windows 10 upgrade!

Is there a list somewhere perhaps of 32-bit supported processors vs. 64-bit?

  4. Motherboard, Processor And Driver Compatibility with Windows 10 64 Bit Pc.

Upgrade to Windows 10 64 bit PAE, SSE2, NX, CMPXCHG16b

I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+(64-bit processor) and I'm thinking it can't run WIndows 10 64-bit. One website said to check under System Information "Look for system type if you see x64 based PC, then your computer is capable of running 64-bit Windows. If you see x86 based PC, then you can't install another architecture of the operating system." Well it shows x86 based PC despite my 64-bit processor. I want a CPU that is capable of running it, but everything I find online how to check if it is compatible, only works if you already have the CPU installed.

What I've found is that in order for it to run Windows 10 64-bit, the CPU needs to be SSE2, PAE, NX, and CMPXCHG16b compatible. But I have no idea how to check for that without physically having the CPU. A thread on this site, a user named Carsomyrclaims this datasheet for an AMD Athlon II X4 640, is compatible with all those things. But when I check it I can only find the compatibility for SSE2, and PAE (listed as AMD64).

I searched the same site for a datasheet for an AMD Phenom II X4 850 (the processor I'm looking to buy) and again found only the compatibility for SSE2, and PAE (again listed as AMD64).

So basically I want to know what information on those datasheets indicates that is compatible with those features, or if user Carsomyr is mistaken. If the AMD Phenom II X4 850 is compatible and will let me run Windows 10 64-Bit. Or should i keep looking.

Here is my Motherboard Specs with a list of compatible CPUs.
