Windows 10: Motu S/PDIF input does not work any more

Using a Motu UltraLite-mk3 FireWire audio interface, I suddenly encounter a problem with its S/PDIF audio input. I typically use it in the way described in https://motu.com/techsupport/technotes/spdifloop, but in general, the analog audio inputs 1-8 work fine, the S/PDIF 1-2 output too.


The Motu CueMix FX and AudioDesk Software V4.01 work with the S/PDIF input 1-2, but it is dead in the Windows sound system. It is shown as an input, not signal is available.


I looks to me that one of the recent Windows 10 Updates causes the problem. A reinstallation of the driver does not help. Does anyone encounter similar problems, or know a solution?

Mobo S/PDIF input header, how to use them with PS3?

I have seen motherboards with S/PDIF inputs, the problem is that this is Coaxial S/PDIF, not optical, which the PS3 can't output anyway.

The GA-EX58 Extreme does have an S/PDIF in connector on the board, but as I said it is the Coaxial version, which the PS3 doesn't support.

I would suspect you need 5.1 input to the MOTU unit. From what I see it can't convert the stereo to 5.1.

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
