  1. Mount home directory on second disk

In Linux I can mount a large disk on /home/"myusername", and thereafter all my huge number of user files are stored on that non-system disk. How can I do the same on Windows 10?

I know I can move some - but not all - user folders/files on C:\Users\"myusername" to equivalent folders on a second non-system drive, but that requires sorting them into Windows folders, and if I try to copy a large batch of linux folders/files to Windows that's a PITA, as they're not organized that way on Linux

    :)

    Directory Size Utility

First of all nice utility, Mindweaver!
Second of all, it's so nice to see that this section ain't dead.

    I have a few questions/suggestions, maybe you'd want to see ...
    • maybe you rename Get Folder button caption to something more intuitive? Add Folder, Get Folder Size, Check Folder Size or something like that?
    • Could you add subfolder files to the right pane? (it can be a tickbox with include sub dirs)
    • maybe you also add export list to excel?
    • there's delete file button maybe you add delete folder button too?
    • and finally maybe you can add UP button for directories?

  3. Directory Size Utility

Thanks buddy! Yea, this section's not dead. Kreij and I have big plans for this section. I don't want to give nothing away, but we have some bigger projects down the road. *Toast :toast: I feel I'm pretty good at coding with different languages, but I'm well behind Kreij's level of experience with those other Languages. I've been working on those other languages, and soon I'll feel comfortable enough to start, and not feel like I'm holding the project back. *Toast :toast:

    Now on to your suggestions.

    • maybe you rename Get Folder button caption to something more intuitive? Add Folder, Get Folder Size, Check Folder Size or something like that? Yea, that's been bothering me and I like your suggestion "Add Folder". I'll change it on the next release.
    • Could you add subfolder files to the right pane? (it can be a tickbox with include sub dirs) I could add this, but let me see if I understand what you're asking. By subfolders you mean add all the folders in the left panel to the right panel? Those folders are all the subfolders in the "Get folder".
    • maybe you also add export list to excel? I'll add this on the next release.
    • there's delete file button maybe you add delete folder button too? I'll add this on the next release.
    • and finally maybe you can add UP button for directories? I'll add this on the next release.
These are all great suggestions! Thanks Drone! *Toast :toast:

  4. Mount home directory on second disk

Extremely poor File Explorer performance with Windows 10 1903 when accessing remote mounted encrypted directory

From what I gather the process of accessing remote encrypted files:

    1. Copy the encrypted object over (i.e. opening in Excel) in the background
    2. Verify you have the proper permission and key for decoding the file
    3. Decode the file for use in app
Opening an encrypted remote file (about 300K) in Excel (already running) via the File Explorer takes a significant long time (in my setup over GigE is about 15-16 seconds) while getting a "Downloading..." message.

So I tried a slightly different approach by writing a script to copy the file over to a local directory in command line and dropping it into Excel when it appears locally. The copy is less than one second and the file opens as fast as I drag it into Excel
from the local directory. It appears that File Explorer is doing lots of extra work during that long wait time (about 30% of CPU usage on a 2 core 4 thread (i5-4250U, 16G) machine.

The handling of remote files that are encrypted appears to be going through lots of unnecessary steps. The remote directory is a Windows 10 Pro encrypted directory mounted using File Explorer. This was never an issue under Win 7. But under WIn 10 the
handling of mounted encrypted files is becoming extremely poor.
