  1. Mounting an SD card as c:\windows folder

    Hi there,

Wonder if anyone tried mounting an SD card as c:\windows folder before?

If this can be done, it would allow a low storage device like say one with non-expandable 32gb emmc to really have its space expanded with the SD card.

Question is when the mounting is done. Which part of windows need to be loaded already for mounting to take place. Those part that needs to be loaded has to be in the real C: drive c:\windows while the rest of the can be in the mounted SD card.

This works in linux. E.g. in Ubuntu, every folder can be mounted from any device/partition via its blockid. So a typical Ubuntu installation may have root dir / mounted from one partition while /home is mounted from another partition. Advantage is that a clean wipe or reinstall of root never touches the home dir.

    Will this work for c:\windows?

Or at least some system or user folders that uses tons of space?

    :)

  2. Does a micro sd card mounted under c count in storage usage?

I have a surface pro 4. I have a micro sd card that was recently installed. I loaded up my music on this card and then mounted it under the c drive using disk management.

Do the music files on this sd card count in the storage usage when looking at the amount of free space in the c drive?

  3. SD Card keeps unmounting/re-mounting

    Hello Darren,

As a workaround I suggest you to insert the SD card in different USB port and also use different SD card, check if it helps.

If the issue persists then I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Troubleshoot Hardware and Devices.

Hardware troubleshooter reviews, diagnose and identifies operational or technical problems within a hardware device.

    • Press Windows Key +R, type Control Panel.
    • Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.
    • Click on Hardware and Devices.
    • Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: I would also suggest you to
update the USB (Universal Serial Bus) controllers from device manager and check.

This method resolves steps where the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or corrupted.

    • Press windows + X key.
    • Select Device Manager and click on Enter.
    • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right click a device and click
on Update. Repeat for each device.
    • Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install.

Please get back to us with an update on this issue, we will be happy to help.

    Thank you

Mounting an SD card as c:\windows folder

Mysterious c:\mount folder on my SSD

I came looking for information here because I just discovered a C:\Mount folder on my own Intel SSD. It's about one gig in size, and most of that is from copies from files in C:\Windows. Attempting to access any of the files results in "The file cannot be accessed by the system" being displayed. The folder also contains a 'sources' folder, which is the only thing that's not a copy of another C:\ folder.

I haven't used any kind of mounting software in the time before that. Renaming the folder doesn't cause it to be recreated, and doesn't really have any effect.

What's weirder, the folder's 'Date Modified' shows a date in 2009, same date as the PerfLogs folder. I didn't even own this SSD back then, and I'm sure that Mount folder wasn't here a few weeks ago.

Does this provide any more clues to what this might be?
