  1. Mouse and keyboard are disabled at Automatic Repair screen

Mouse and keyboard work fine on motherboard's UEFI menu, but are totally disabled when I am on the dreaded Automatic Repair blue screen. Holds true with both my corded and wireless mice and keyboards. I am trying to boot my PC into safe mode but cannot do so without being able to click "advanced options" on said blue screen.

  2. Windows 10 Automatic Recovery screen with keyboard and mouse disabled

When turning on my HP desktop with windows 10, I am taken to the following screen:

    Automatic repair error

    D:\windows\system32\logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

I know the steps to follow: click on advanced options ,etc.

The problem is that my keyboard and mouse are disabled, so I cannot choose the option.

Do you know exactly where can I enable keyboard and mouse for Automatic Recovery screen.

If you could tel me exactly how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

  3. Issues with the On screen keyboard and mouse pointer.

    Hi Robert,

The issues with the mouse may arise due to driver conflicts and the issue related to the On Screen keyboard may be when the settings for the OSK are turned on.

For the On screen keyboard issue, I suggest you to follow the below steps.

    • Type Ease of Access on the search bar.

    • Choose Ease of Access and click on
Use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard option.

    • Check if the Type using a pointing device is turned on.

    • You may uncheck that option if it is turned on.
    Also try the below steps:

    • Press Windows key + R and type
      Services.msc
      .

    • Scroll down to find the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service".

    • Disable the option by right clicking on it.
    For the Mouse issue:

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Hardware
    and
    Devices.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

    6. Check if issue persists.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

  4. Mouse and keyboard are disabled at Automatic Repair screen

Auto Repair disables keyboard and mouse

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the frustration when things don't work the way it should.

First of all, I would like you to answer these questions.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?
    • Why do you want to perform Automatic Repair?
    • What are the issues you are facing to repair Windows?
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if the issue can be fixed.

This is an alternate way to boot the PC and run recovery tools when something goes wrong with the Operating system.

Please follow the steps given below. Insert the Windows 10 installation DVD in the DVD ROM and restart your computer.

    a) After you boot your computer using Windows DVD or System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

    b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

    c) Click Repair your computer
    in the lower left corner.

    d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an option screen.

    e) Click advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

    f) Click Automatic Repair from Advanced Options screen.

    g) Windows will then look for problems on hard drive(s) and verify that all required files are intact.
