Windows 10: Mouse and keyboard center won't enact saved settings after reboot

I'm using M&KBC v3.2.116.0 with a Sculpt Comfort mouse. I can reassign the actions performed by the side button on the mouse (like pressing performing the browser-back action instead of opening the start menu when pressed) , but as soon as I reboot the computer it will act as though I didn't reassign the actions at all. Opening the M&KBC again shows the customized button assignments, but the default actions are still performed (the application shows the window button press will perform a browser-back action, but instead the start menu is opened.) The only thing that will actually fixed the problem is reinstalling the software altogether, but the same thing happens after another reboot. This happens in both Win10 and Win7.


I surmise that this question will either be ignored and buried in all the other unanswered questions, or a tech will give me a link to an irrelevant article about M&KBC FAQs or troubleshooting page (which I have already checked and haven't found anything related) and ask me to mark it as answered.

I have installed the software and driver and it seems to work - but ...

The settings for the mouse are very course and the mouse jumps in large steps - instead of a smooth scroll.

The Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center - only allow me to adjust the setting for the keyboard - and I cannot find a way to adjust the settings for the mouse Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 V1.0.

How can I adjust the settings for the Mouse?

This issue might occur if the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center files got corrupted.

I suggest you to place the computer in clean boot, uninstall the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center application and download and install the latest Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center application form the website and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

Step 1: Perform Clean boot.

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program.

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

Step 2: Uninstall Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center application.

1) Press Windows key + x and select Program and features.

2) Right click on the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center and click on
Uninstall.

Step 3: Download and install the latest Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center for the website.

Mouse and Keyboard Center Mouse

I have a Microsoft Keyboard and use the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard center to program the buttons. I also have a Microsoft Mouse that is not compatible with the Mouse and Keyboard center. The scrolling is incredibly sensitive and scrolls way too fast now
and it appears it is because of the center. Is there a way to get my mouse set correctly without uninstalling the center because I would really like it for my keyboard.
