Windows 10: Mouse and Keyboard not working after virus infection.

A couple of days ago, my mother wanted to edit videos using my pc, and I naively left it to her, which proved to be a mistake later. I don't know at what point it happened, but someone had gained access to my Instagram account and Discord. Using Discord, they attempted to send shady links about free Nitro to every friend and server, and on Instagram it was something about Elon Musk giving out bitcoins. I changed the password to both accounts and all is fine after getting my Kaspersky antivirus to scan everything. It found a trojan in the driver files and it asked to restart afte

Mouse and keyboard virus question

Hi,

Well, this is perhaps a little basic. I don't know a lot about IT. I may purchase a second-hand PS/2 mouse and keyboard. I have heard that USB mouses (mice?) and keyboards can carry a virus and infect your computer:

but is this true for PS/2 mouses and keyboards as well?

PS: I know it says I have a Win 7 system, but I am on the Win 10 forum because I am in the process of upgrading to Win 10, and have had trouble and it was suggested I remove my USB mouse and keyboard and use PS/2 instead, for the upgrade process.

I was hoping someone could give me a list of step by step instructions you use as a guide to clean virus, malware...etc. so I can keep my PC clean if it gets infected.
