Windows 10: mouse and touch pad is not working after updates

why is my mouse and touchpad not working after upadate windows into my computer.i can't find my mouse and touch pad settings it is not into setting area

Touch pad not working. I have tried everything.

I have a semi new Lenovo laptop ThinkPad T450s with a new hard drive. After installing Windows 10 the touch pad doesn't work. It did however work before. I have spent all day trying to read up on how I may solve this to no avail. Therefore I am writing my own help request. Here is a list of things I have tried;


Not Fn + F5
tried updating drives
not in device manager
not in control panel - mouse properties doesn't give me touch pad option (picture 2) nor is it anywhere in the control panel under deivices to be found
Activated in BIOS
I tried taking some steps I read online in the Registration Entries but files seemed to be missing (perhaps here is the problem) but only ended up making my USB mouse to stop working so that didn't do the trick.
Synaptic pointing device is under View and show hidden devices.
Not sure what to do about the yellow exclamation mark but it says error "This device is not present, is not working properly or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"

no mouse or touch pad

after a recent windows update my mouse and touch pad wont work. I have an HP Envy 15 with Win 10 home x64. I have spent hours installing and uninstalling the synaptics driver but it wont start.

a previous post suggest a registry edit but this was for Win8
