Windows 10: Mouse can't click the start menu on startup.

Mouse can't click the start menu on startup. Randomly happens, often a restart fixes the issue. It is annoying though. Any ideas? Windows 11 Most current update - just checked for updates to make sure.Also, mouse can't click the chevron for hidden menu, sound, internet, or time. This applies to right click too. So no start menu or toolbar can be clicked with the mouse.I can press the windows key on the keyboard, and the mouse will left and right click anything in the start menu from there on, but to open the start menu or anything else on the toolbar, the mouse won't.

I'm not sure how to do that. Could you list the steps for a noob?

 

Mouse pointer hides under Start Menu.

• Does the mouse respond when you click on the Start icon? Yes.
• Does the issue persist when you hover your mouse over Start menu tiles?
  You cannot see the mouse over the Start Menu tiles. It show up behind the tiles like a shadow.
• Do you face similar issue when you hover your mouse on other icons?No.

I will try your suggestions and report back.

 

Cannot launch Settings on startup menu

Thank you for posting your reply.

I suggest you to perform a Startup Repair by following the steps below.

• In the Lock screen, press/hold the shift key and click on power icon>restart.
• Click on Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Startup Repair and follow the prompts to start the Startup Repair.

After the Startup Repair is complete, check for the status.
