    Mouse difficulties

We have a wired mouse that connects via a USB 2.0 port on the PC. It is a mouse that has a scroll wheel.

    We have Windows 10 Home 1903 (18362.418), 64-bit.

Although I cannot say with any certainty why, the mouse attached to the PC is not functioning as well as it should. What I do know is that it was functioning well enough before the Patch Tuesday update, and the mouse is not that old either.

I have tried going into the Windows Settings and experimenting with ClickLock and the mouse speed settings, and tried adjusting those for some time. Also swapping the mouse buttons (except we don't want to do that and never had to before). Program or folder windows either seem to open too quickly, if the double-click setting seems too high. Program folders or files can open without me meaning to. I also have difficulty highlighting a folder or file by single-clicking. Before, I used to be able to drag a folder or file by single-clicking with the left mouse button, and then being able to drag that by holding the left mouse button, but I can't even do that now - I have to single-click it (if W10 will let me) and highlight it, and then drag it with the right mouse button. Accessing the Start Menu too can be difficult, as the menu can often disappear too quickly before I have had chance to select anything (although no Critical Errors yet as other people have reported). Basically, a real pain, and not at all like it was before.

It is making everyday tasks such as browsing, emails, moving things etc unnecessarily difficult. This is a shared computer and other people get very frustrated if they are unable to do their tasks as a result of these problems. Also, in Microsoft Solitaire Collection, I used to be able to highlight and move cards very quickly, but not any more.

I have tried recently doing a repair install as I thought that may help, but it hasn't.

I don't have much technical knowledge, but I noticed in Device Manager that 'HID-compliant Mouse' is showing, whereas before I don't think there was and as I say the mouse worked fine until recently. If I select 'Show Hidden', there seems to be a ghosted HID mouse as well, and a PS/2 mouse (disabled?).

I need someone to help please, as this is very frustrating and I just want the problem resolved as it shouldn't be like this. I am prepared to run whatever diagnostics you wish, whatever technical reports you would help. I am not convinced a replacement mouse would necessarily solve the issue (we do not have a PS/2 mouse anyway as alternative).

    Thanks for any assistance provided.

    :)

  3. mouse is not working right

unfortunately there isn't a lot to a usb mouse. what i would suggest is checking the power management settings on it.

Right-click the start menu and choose device manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the very bottom
Double-click on each HUB you have listed, click Power Management Tab at the top, and UNCHECK "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"
You may have HUBs called Generic and Root Hub. Perform the step above on All of them.

If you continue to have the issue, i would imagine your mouse is malfunctioning. Perhaps try another mouse just to be sure. This will help you determine if it is in fact the mouse of computer causing the issue.

    Good Luck!!

Wireless mouse "driver is unavailable" issues

    Hi,

The error Driver is unavailable means that there is no available driver installed for your mouse that’s why it is not working. We suggest that you check the mouse driver from the device manager. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Look for Mice and other pointing devices and click it to expand.
    • Check if there is a driver for the wireless mouse.

If there is none, we suggest that you visit the manufacturer’s website of the mouse and download then install the latest mouse driver compatible to Windows 10.

Get back to us if you need further assistance.
