Windows 10: Mouse Freezing Diagnostic Tool?

Hi everyone,


I got a HP Pavilion Laptop ugraded from win 8 to 10.


It was working normally but after some time its mouse began freezing almost every two secs. All running programs work fine but the mouse is a nightmare


I have tried almost every workaround found on the internet:


- Updating touchpad, Wired USB Mouse, Audio and Video drivers

- Cheking HD performance

- Disabled / Unistalled any Realtek Audio legacy service

- Checked SO integrity (dism/sfs)

- Checked HW integrity through BIOS utility


The only way mouse works fine is when laptop is booted in safe mode where only few basic OS services are loaded, then, for sure it is a service/device conflicting with it.


have lost count of how many times (and hours) i have rebooted the system using MSCONFIG trying to catch the problem!!


Has Micrsoft develped any diagnostic tool to identify / solve this problem (quite common as i have found on the internet ) ?


Does anyone have a different approach to solve this annoying issue ( having not to re-install from scratch the OS)?

Computer and mouse freeze

Activation Diagnostic Tool


The information in the "Activation Troubleshooting" said to "...we request users to initially run the Activation Diagnostic Tool". And that "Choose windows validation from the menu bar and it will run the diagnostics test." However, there is no mention of where that tool is located or where to down-load it.

So, I would like to run the test as suggested, but have no idea of where it is. Anyone?

• Have you made any changes to the computer software prior to this?
• Are you getting any error messages?
• Can you send us a screenshot to what you are referring to?

In the meantime, we suggest that you follow the steps below and check if the same thing happens:

• Access Task Manager by pressing Windows + Alt +Delete.
• Choose Task Manager.
• Look for Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool and then click the
  End Task button.
