    My mouse has been malfunctioning for a while now, and by now I have tried everything in my reach to try to fix the issue. It always freezes or jumps while I'm trying to use it, with each skip lasting maybe 1-2s. It used to happen rarely at the start of last month, maybe happening once or twice a week, but now it's more like 50 times in an hour. My keyboard only has problems when my laptop seemingly randomly decides to stop working. My laptop would sound the Windows connect and disconnect sound constantly, and would not work again even after plugging it back into the port, effectively disabling my keyboard and mouse until I restart or shut down my laptop.



    The fixes I've tried so far are reinstalling drivers for my mouse, keyboard and USB ports in Device manager, factory reset and restored from previous backup, installed the driver on my mouse's website, even disabled high precision mouse input and my touchpad in the hopes that my mouse starts working. For the second issue, I haven't managed to find any online guide with solutions regarding my problem, only that using my computer in Safe Mode might help me narrow down the issue. (Apparently the default drivers and settings aren't the problem, mouse still jumps)


    I've tried using a wireless mouse that I have lying around and I plugged the receiver on the third port at the back of my laptop which works fine, but when I used my mouse from port 2 to 3, the issue was still there. I had a friend try my mouse and had no trouble with it, so my best guess is that there's a problem with my USB port being unresponsive and an issue with my mouse itself.

    Mouse: TextronScorpion 7 Wired (that I use on a mousepad which came with my mouse, nothing wrong with the surface that might make my mouse function weirdly)


    Keyboard: A weird branded keyboard, I can't even read the specs, it's in Chinese


    OS: Windows 10 Home (64-bit v1903 build18362.418)

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz 2.30GHz
    System Manufacturer: Acer
    Laptop Model: Aspire V5-473PG

    Memory: 8GB ram

  3. Issues with the On screen keyboard and mouse pointer.

    Hi Robert,

    The issues with the mouse may arise due to driver conflicts and the issue related to the On Screen keyboard may be when the settings for the OSK are turned on.

    For the On screen keyboard issue, I suggest you to follow the below steps.


    • Type Ease of Access on the search bar.

    • Choose Ease of Access and click on
      Use the Computer without a mouse or keyboard option.

    • Check if the Type using a pointing device is turned on.

    • You may uncheck that option if it is turned on.
    Also try the below steps:


    • Press Windows key + R and type
      Services.msc
      .

    • Scroll down to find the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service".

    • Disable the option by right clicking on it.
    For the Mouse issue:

    I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Hardware
    and
    Devices.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

    6. Check if issue persists.

    • Are you using a wired or wireless keyboard and mouse?
    • Have you tried using a different keyboard and mouse? If yes, how was it?
    • Have you tried using your keyboard and mouse to another computer? If yes, what is the result?
