Windows 10: Mouse intermittently adds an extra click!

Hello, I have an intermittent mouse problem: when I left- or right-click the mouse sometimes adds an extra left click upon release of the button. For example, I left-click on a menu item and it turns into a double-click. This creates chaos. The misbehavior will happen for 4 or 5 clicks in a row and then go back to normal for a while. I first experienced the problem with a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse. I switched to an older USB mouse and the problem continued. I switched to another older USB mouse and the problem became less frequent but still annoying. I am running Windows 11 ver 21H2.I have alr

• At any chance, if you have any extra mouse, have you tried using that on your tablet? I'm thinking that the Arc Bluetooth mouse is defective.
• To verify also, did the troubleshooting steps on the link provided work?

USB mouse works intermittently

My usb mouse only works intermittently (disappears and reappears. When I go to device manager and highlight the mouse, the device manager list of devices goes through a cycle of reappearing and disappearing. How can I get the mouse to work without interruption?
I have tried updating and reinstalling the drives. I have also changed the power saver settings so that the usb ports do not shut off.
