Mouse Issue - Primary Click keeps resetting - Multiple Devices, Multiple types of Mice

I have multiple Windows 10 devices, and the same problem is happening on all of them, regardless of what kind of mouse I try to use. This is so frustrating! The Primary Click keeps resetting from Left default to Right even when I manually set it through the Settings/Devices/Mouse menu.I'm currently running the latest version of Windows 10, version 22H2.This issue is confirmed to be happening on a logitech bluetooth mouse, an Evoluent Vertical Mouse 3 Rev 2, and an Evoluent Vertical Mouse 4 Left.Computers include: Microsoft Surface Laptop, and a DigitalStorm Desktop PC.Device name DigitalSto

  2. Mouse Issues

    Hi Nelth,

Issue as such can be a result of multiple device drivers installed to your computer. To provide you the appropriate steps that can resolve your concern, we'd like to verify the following:

    • Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
    • What is the make and model of the mice that you're using on your device?
    • Have you tried using these mice to your other devices? If yes, are you experiencing the same issue?

In the meantime, if you have multiple mouse drivers installed on your device, we suggest that you uninstall them to correct any possible conflicts that may cause this issue. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • Press Win + R keys at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    • In the Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and click on
OK to open Device Manager window.
    • Expand Mice and other
      pointing
devices category, right-click on the mouse
      driver, and click on Uninstall.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts.
    • Once done, restart your computer to apply the changes.

Note: Windows will automatically download the driver. If not, you can re-download the mouse driver on the manufacturer's website.

Give us an update with the outcome.

  3. Mouse cursor sticks to edge between multiple monitors

    Hi WBrannen_24,

Adjusting the speed of the mouse can be done in the mouse settings. Open Control Panel> Type mouse the the search field> Change mouse settings> Buttons tab> Double-click speed> modify the speed and then click Apply
and then OK. You may need to restart the computer after doing the said steps. You also need to make sure that the Multiple displays is properly activated. Right click your desktop> Display Settings> Display> Under Multiple Displays click Extend these displays.
If the device doesn't appear to work at all (no lights appear on the device when it’s plugged in, or the cursor doesn't move or doesn't appear on the screen), connect the device to another PC and make sure the device works on that PC. If the device doesn't
work on the other PC, you might need to replace it. Kindly follow these steps to help you resolve your concern:

    Step 1: Check your hardware.

    • Unplug USB cables and wait for a little while for the device driver to be unloaded by Windows, and then plug the device back in.
    • Try using a different USB port on your PC.
    • If you use a USB hub between the device and the PC, make sure the hub has power. If it’s still not working, try removing the USB hub and plugging the device directly into a USB port on the PC.
    • Make sure that the cables on your device aren't damaged in any way.
    • Check any battery-powered devices to see if they are fully charged or have fresh batteries.
    • Make sure there’s no dirt blocking keys or sensors.

Step 2: Check your wireless connections.

    • Look on the bottom of the wireless device for a Reset button. Resetting the device will disconnect and then reconnect the wireless connection. There might also be a Reset button on the USB receiver for your device.
    • For USB wireless devices, this might be as simple as unplugging the USB wireless receiver, waiting for about 10 seconds, and then plugging the USB wireless receiver back into the USB port. The wireless connection should be reestablished.

Step 3: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. Go to Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot> Hardware and Devices> Run the troubleshooter> Restart your computer.

Step 4: Update the Mouse driver. Open Device Manager> Mice and other pointing devices> Right click the driver> Properties> Driver tab> Update Driver> OK> Restart your computer. If the issue still persists, please proceed to the next step.

Step 5: Reinstall the Mouse Driver. Open Device Manager> Mice and other pointing devices> Right click the driver> Properties> Driver tab> Uninstall Device> OK> Restart your computer.

Mouse Issue - Primary Click keeps resetting - Multiple Devices, Multiple types of Mice

Multiple mouse problems with multiple mice

After trying different search terms I have found page after page on Google Search of people that are having 2 to 4 of the same problems that I have been experiencing. For instance there was a whole page of people that can't select anything, and another whole page of people that press the left mouse button to copy one sentence, and immediately on pressing the mouse button, it selects the whole page, and can't de-select any thing. Another page of people that can't click the "X" to close a window, another page of people that double or triple click and close 2 to 3 pages at one time. And it continued, every problem I listed I found a whole page of people having the some of the same problems I'm having but nobody has all the problems I am. Some are having multiple problems, still not as many as I am. There are even those having these problems with a USB mouse, so maybe I'm not imaging those problems.

Typically, root cause has been directed toward one Windows Update or another having a problem. Some possible remedies, that some report as working, is to change wifi to turn off when pc sleeps, or Device Manager>USB Root Hub>Properties>Power Management>Turn Off Allow Windows to Turn Off This Device. Now what those things have to do with a wireless/Bluetooth mouse, I can't figure it out, but what I do remember from when I worked on pc's, you would be surprised at what things can affect each other.

So does this information help anyone help me to fix my problems. I'm trying to do all the things listed on these pages that are not as serious problems as I have, hopefully one of those things will work. I'll report back if I notice something working.
