Mouse & Keyboard center - multiple devices.

    Hi,

I have two devices MS Surface laptop 3 & a W10 desktop and I would like to use only one mouse and one keyboard for bought devices.
In this respect, I bought a Microsoft Precision Mouse and I installed the app "Mouse and Keyboard Center" : it works fine, I can use the mouse with the two devices.

I also wanted a keyboard, but I could not find any keyboard with the "smart switch" feature the Mouse Precision is compatible, and the feature can be configured using the Mouse and Keyboard Center, so I asked here for more info :

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/mouse-and-keyboard-center-smart-switch/f299d634-1de4-47ac-beb9-6f292697e1e7?tm=1604505325638

The answer I got is : Buying a keyboard compatible with the Mouse and Keyboard Center will do the trick, and so I did, I have now a Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard which is listed compatible with that app.

Problem is : it does not work, the keyboard works fine with one device as a standard keyboard, but it does not switch when my mouse switch.

    Here are some screenshots :

On the app, the keyboard has no "smart switch" option and I guess it is normal :

On the mouse settings I can select a second device I thought I could select the keyboard, and the mouse would act as a bridge for the keyboard switch :

Does anyone can assist me with that ? Based on the Advisor remarks on previous thread, I bought this keyboard but it's useless actually... very frustrating.

    Thanks,

    Philippe.

    :)

  2. Mouse not visible in Mouse and Keyboard Center

I use Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard and Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse, The first is visible in Mouse and Keyboard Center, but not the mouse. The mouse
does work, however one of the reasons I have chosen this particular mouse is the additional settings in Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, which I cannot use.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. No improvement.

The mouse is on the list of supported devices and I'm surprised by this issue as I have never heard such a problem before. It is my second Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse.

    Thanks for any helpful suggestions,

    Krzysztof

Replacing intellitype in MS Mouse and Keyboard Center

    Hi Hans,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

To have a better clarity on the issue and guide you accordingly, kindly help us with the following information.

    • Which version of Windows is installed on the machine?
(Search winver from the Start menu to know the same)

    • Does your new Precision Mouse not work on IntelliPoint 7.0?

    You may want to download
IntelliPoint 7.0 Mouse Software for Windows x64
and see if the mouse works fine. If it does, you may use the keyboard and mouse using the same. If it doesn't, I would suggest
you to upgrade your keyboard as it is no longer supported with newer versions of MS Keyboard and Mouse Centre.

    Additional Info:
Which devices are supported by Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre?

Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center does not recognize Microsoft Surface Laptop keyboard

    Problem:

    1. I have a brand new Microsoft Surface Laptop, with Windows 10 Pro, which naturally comes with a brand new Microsoft keyboard hardwired to the laptop.
    2. I installed the
      Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center
to reassign some of the keyboard keys.
    3. However, Microsoft's keyboard program does not detect Microsoft's own keyboard!
    Failed solutions:

    1. All the help pages say "update your drivers" or "unplug the USB device and plug it back in." However, this is a laptop keyboard, which is hardwired, not a USB keyboard. It is working fine, so there's no reason why the program should not detect it.
    2. Yes, EVERYTHING is up to date, including ALL Windows Updates and ALL keyboard drivers.
    3. Yes, I tried the troubleshooter.
    4. Yes, I checked
the list of "supported devices" that Microsoft lists here
. But they are all mice, none of them are keyboards.
    5. Screenshots of my steps are below -- Microsoft moderators, please don't dismiss me by saying "run the troubleshooter" or "update your drivers" or "turn it off and on again."
    Questions:

    1. Has anyone actually SEEN the Mouse and Keyboard Center recognize a Windows laptop keyboard? Not a USB external keyboard, the actual physical laptop keyboard?
    2. Does the Mouse and Keyboard Center actually work with laptops? There's no documentation suggesting it shouldn't, especially with Microsoft's own hardware (like the Surface Laptop).
    3. Where is there a list of what keyboards work with the "Mouse and *Keyboard* Center"?
    Screenshots:
