Windows 10: Mouse & Keyboard Not Working After Windows Update

After windows updates my mouse/keyboard do not work. I'm not present when windows updates because I leave my computer on over night for updates.

Uninstalling the KB does not resolve the problem.

Removing the drivers and replugging in the devices to let windows reinstall driversdoes not work. After removing the drivers when plugging in the devices windows does not seem to recognize that the mouse or keyboard were plugged in.

The mouse will light up as if connected for a moment when the system restarts but then turns off immediately.

The only way I can find to restore functionality is to run a system restore point, but every time the system updates again and the problem returns.

The mouse and keyboard are obviously fine, the connection is obviously fine, because a system restore restores functionality.

An acceptable solution for me would be a means of storing the drivers and manually forcing the computer to use those drivers after the next update with drivers of my choosing.

After the update I am only able to access my computer via a usb-female to ps\2 male adapter.

Microsoft updates ALREADY killed my bluetooth functionality beyond repair with updates that followed this exact same pattern system update restores functionality but nothing else would so I'm already fed up with these updates. But breaking my mouse / keyboard functionality means literally making my device worthless to me.

Unresponsive Mouse and Keyboard in Windows 10
