Windows 10: Mouse no longer working after recent windows update

After the most recent update windows no longer detects my mouse. I cannot see my cursor.I know that my mouse and usb work fine as I used them on my laptop without issue. The USB ports on my pc are also functioning perfectly. I am sure that the update itself is the issue because I restored my pc to and older version of windows 10 and my mouse worked again but I forgot to turn off auto updates and it updated again after I shut my pc off. I tried restore it to a previous version of windows but now it keeps reinstalling the latest update so I have no other way to get to a previous version. Anyone

Hardware Troubleshooter on the computer with the steps below:

• Press Windows logo key + S on your keyboard.
  
• Type Troubleshooting and select it from the list.
• Select Hardware and Sound, then Hardware and Devices.

Mouse not working

• Are you using a laptop or a desktop computer?
• If a desktop, are you using a USB or wireless mouse?

Since the issue appeared after an OS installation, we suggest that you run the hardware troubleshooter. Follow these steps:

• In the Cortana search, search for Troubleshooting.
• Click Troubleshooting in the search results.
• In the left pane, click View all.
• Locate and click Hardware and Devices.
• Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Windows 98 and ME no longer updatable...

Quite right, XP is still listed in technet. Win 98 unfortunately isn't. Windows 3.1 and 3.2 are listed though.
