Mouse not recognized and Device Manager's 'mouse and other pointing devices' is missing

As stated above it looks like the most recent update of Windows yeeted my mouse since about Thursday or so my mouse has been disconnecting constantly and Saturday it flat out stopped connecting at all and it's unrecognized by my PC as well so I tried a few solutions, but none of them worked:

removing the power settings on USB devices through drive manager

obvious stuff like checking each usb port and restarting

    resetting and reinstalling windows

(I would've tried restore, but it looks like my niece who was using the computer had set a restore point after whatever update that did this I assume for a project or something since when it restored the issue still persisted)

This is about the most I could think of or Google that didn't involve "mouse and other pointing devices" which I have no idea how to restore (if that's possible) or do I simply have to wait for an update that fixes this, if anyone has any ideas I'd be more than receptive to hear them and grateful for the time taken to offer advice.

    :)

    Hi Paul,

An outdated or incompatible mouse driver can be one of the factors why this issue occurs. To assist you with your concern, we recommend that you follow these steps to check if the device is recognized correctly in Device Manager.
To do this, follow the steps below:

    • In the Search box, type Device
      Manager
      and press Enter.
    • Navigate to Mice and other pointing devices.
    • A yellow exclamation means that the mouse driver is not installed properly. You can right-click and select
      Uninstall.
    • Right-click on Mice and other pointing devices and select
      Scan for hardware change.
    • If the yellow exclamation mark still exists, go to their support site to search your product name and find the corresponding mouse driver to install and update.

Note: If there is no pointing device, it indicates that there is no mouse configured or it is a mouse hardware failure. We suggest that you contact
your system manufacturer to report the status of the device and to identify if this is a hardware related issue.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Notebook recognizes mouse but no other usb devices

Is it possible that the USB ports are power limited? Enough to run a mouse but not an external hard drive. I seem to recall somewhere in the device manager settings for the USB devices you can see how much power (in mA, 500mA max I think) that is being provided to the port. Or maybe there is a setting in the BIOS limiting the power to send out the USB port?

Mouse not recognized and Device Manager's 'mouse and other pointing devices' is missing

Mouse and pointing device no longer on Decice manager

After restarting my computer (ASUS mother board) my mouse is no longer working, tried 2 other mice, a usb and a bluetooth both not working.

Checked Device manager but Mouse and pointing device not there anymore. My Keyboard is on the same USB Bluetooth as my mouse and is still working.

tried recovery in safe-mode but nothing changed.

    need help urgently - thanx!
