Windows 10: Mouse not working on startup - Windows 11

Just fitted New motherboard/processor in my PC. Booted several times on Windows 10 and all OK. Then upgraded Win10 to Win11. All seems good but on startup power on my mouse Microsoft USB wheel Mouse Optical does not work. Unplug it, pause and plug it in and then it works. Tried driver update - no change. Tried disable device then let it re-install - still no change.Suggestions please.

Dear All,

Mouse and keyword stop working at the same time in Windows 11. Once when it happened uninstallation of Antivirus was stopped. I have read many articles on the internet but they have not solved the problem. Some of them are listed below:

I contacted a technician in Microsoft but he cannot solve the problem. I have a feeling that the problem is caused by cyberattacks because they happen usually in the daytime and not in the nighttime. I ran my computer without connecting to the internet and the problem did not happen. Please suggest how can I solve the problem. mouse is not working right


unfortunately there isn't a lot to a usb mouse. what i would suggest is checking the power management settings on it.

Right-click the start menu and choose device manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the very bottom
Double-click on each HUB you have listed, click Power Management Tab at the top, and UNCHECK "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"
You may have HUBs called Generic and Root Hub. Perform the step above on All of them.

If you continue to have the issue, i would imagine your mouse is malfunctioning. Perhaps try another mouse just to be sure. This will help you determine if it is in fact the mouse of computer causing the issue.
