Windows 10: Mouse only clicks certain things on Windows 11

My computer recently started having problems with the mouse. It will click certain things, such as the new tab/close tab button on Google Chrome and the application shortcuts, but will not click some buttons, including the close, minimize, or any of the other buttons in the top righthand corner. This problem comes up randomly and persists until I restart my computer. It seems like I am unable to click about 25% of buttons, and there's no obvious pattern to what I can and cannot click. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a permanent solution?

Can't click on certain things in browsers.

Hey.

All of a sudden i couldn't click on the first tab of chrome, it would just deselect chrome if i were to click there.

then i saw on a reddit post by someone with a somewhat similar problem 'try clicking all mouse buttons at the same time'

I did that, now i can click the first tab, but i cannot click on other things.

like the refresh button, or the forward backward buttons. the strangest thing is that i cannot click the start of the google search address bar.

say if i typed in 'cannot click on certain things' i would not be able to alter the 'cannot' portion, but can select the rest just fine.

This also happens in firefox.

Any suggestions?

Mouse left click - Stop breaking things!!!

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1:Run Hardware and device troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  

Step 2: And also try to update the touchpad and Mouse drivers from the manufacturer web site and check if it helps.

Step 3:I suggest you to check for the latest updates.

• Press Windows logo key +R, enter MS-settings: and then press
  OK. This opens Settings.
• In Settings, go to Update & security >
  Windows Update, and then select
  Check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your PC if required.

Mouse pointer always making left click without picking on any thing

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices
troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

Method 2:

I suggest you to disable window by hovering over it with the mouse and check if it helps. To do so I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if it helps:

• Press Windows key + X
  key and click on
  Control Panel.
• Select or click
  Ease of Access.
• Click or tap on
  Ease of Access Centre.
• Click on Make the Mouse Easier to Use was uncheck
  Activate Window by hovering over it with the mouse.
• Check if issue is resolved.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to completely uninstall the touchpad driver and reinstall it. Kindly follow the below given steps.

• Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
• In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
• Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
• In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
• In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes”
  option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
