Windows 10: Mouse Pointer disappears for a minute or two

I *think* it's when I give a dialog box focus; but also when I'm in Word and alt-tab back to Chrome. The pointer is gone for like a minute. There are no errors in the Events log. Thanks for any help.

My screen shows the pointer when l restart it or turn it on but after two minutes it disappears

 

Pointer works for first minute then disappears.

Normally, issues as such may occur if there were recent changes in the settings or a recent update triggers a system conflict. To isolate your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

• Which version of Windows are you using?
  
• Have you made any recent changes prior to experiencing the issue?
  
• Were you able to try using another mouse to isolate the issue?
  
• Can you tell us which specific troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

winver, then select OK.

but of course now that I posted this it hasn't happened.

 

If you see it moving around , that could be bad as that would mean someone was in your PC.

 

no, I'm the only user (as least as reported by TaskMgr). It does not move by itself (to my knowledge).

 

Just did again. I opened up Notepad ++ and started to type in a window and the mouse pointer disappeared.

Check to see if the "Hide pointer while typing" setting in Control Panel\Mouse like below may be the issue.

 

Hide pointer when typing is unchecked. I checked Show Location of pointer when I press CTRL and when the pointer is there, it shows. But then it doesn't. I thought it was related to dialog boxes but doesn't seem so.
