Mouse randomly catches and drags things where I don't want them to go

I have a brand new HP computer Pavilion with Windows 11. I have already sent the computer back for repairs to the touchpad because my mouse keeps picking up files, words, windows you name it and draggig them and dropping them wherever it wants to. I keep losing files and folders in other places. I cannot make it stop doing this. I simply have to turn off the computer and come back another time. This happened after HP put in a new Touchpad. We have and HP has updated the drivers repeatedly. It has all of the latest Windows updates and there are no viruses. It also has the latest HP

    :)

  2. Mouse randomly catching

I have been having issues for a bit now regarding my cursor. I have an Acer Aspire ES 15 laptop and Windows 10 came installed on it. I have verified that it is not the mouse, both by purchasing a new mouse and by using the touchpad. When moving the cursor,
it seems to catch every few seconds. If I have something selected, then it will randomly drop or move that selection, both in graphics programs and text programs. My drivers have all been recently updated, and no fixes have arisen there. I have also tried
a number of fixes listed here and elsewhere.

I would appreciate it if the next update would address this issue, as it is getting to be fairly irritating, and my current attempts to fix it have ended in failure.

    * While typing this, I have also noted that the keyboard seems to be suffering from a similar issue, randomly dropping letters or spaces while typing unrelated to my own mess-ups. It is especially prevalent in using the youtube search function, as it takes
forever for the letters to even register in the search bar. Using backspace also seems to cause the computer to catch and momentarily freeze.

Mouse randomly catches and drags things where I don't want them to go

Mouse randomly clicks all by itself

I'm running Windows 10 on a Lenovo T460s laptop. The laptop has recently developed this strange problem with the mouse. It's very similar to the problem described in this ticket:

    Redirecting

The issue reproduces no matter what mouse I use:
    • Logitech bluetooth mouse
    • Logitech wireless USB dongle mouse
    • Microsoft Comfort wired USB mouse
    • The Machine's touchpad
Steps I've taken to troubleshoot the issue:

    • I disabled the touchpad
    • I uninstalled Logitech software which was recommended by Logitech for the bluetooth mouse
    • I updated the driver for the touchpad (it was already up to date)
    • I tried a clean boot (according to the MS support instructions)
    • Bought a new mouse
    • Changed touchpad sensitivity to "low"
    • Uninstalled the driver for the touchpad (synaptics pointing device) - weirdly, when I restarted there was a new device listed in the device manager called "PS/2 compatible mouse" and the touchpad now works again, and I can no longer find the setting to
disable it. So, that's strange. But apparently it's now using a Microsoft driver, which was the next thing to try - installing MS generic driver...

I'll try to describe the behavior a little better than the other ticket:

The cursor randomly left-clicks and holds. If I move the mouse when this happens, it drags whatever the cursor was on or it selects text, exactly as if I were holding the left mouse button. It randomly releases, too. Sometimes, it lasts only for a quick
second, but sometimes it really gets stuck. When it is stuck, right-clicking usually releases it so I can continue working. Left-clicking doesn't help, I can left-click repeatedly and it doesn't release, when I use the touchpad buttons or the USB mouse buttons.
Keyboard actions also don't have any effect on the behavior, as far as I can tell.
