    Mouse Response Poor and inconsistent

I have a Logitech Performance Mouse MX which i know works fine. Last week, my Windows 10 copy just would not load. i'd been having problems on and off since AU. I finally could not get into Windows 10 no matter what I tried, so I decided to just go ahead and upgrade my hard drive, going from 1TB SATA II to 10TB SATA III. I did a fresh installation on the new hard drive, pulled the old one out and put the new one in its place.

Ever since this new installation which I did on Sunday, my mouse either doesn't respond, responds normally, or skips. It's very annoying. I pulled out my Logitech Unifying Receiver and put it into a laptop I have in the house, and my mouse worked just fine, even using the same mousepad. the ONLY difference I can think of was the distance between the mouse and the Logitech Unifying Receiver. When plugged into the Laptop, it was a few inches. When I have it plugged into my PC, it's probably 2 1/2-3 feet from the receiver, which advertises a distance of 30 ft/

I went ahead and went to the Logitech Site, installed SetPoint, which I didn't have before, and this did nothing.

Given the specs of my computer, this should not be happening. In fact, given the fact that the only thing I did was replace a hard drive, this also shouldn't be happening.

How can I address and fix this issue?

    :)

Driver Error with Microsoft Mobile Mouse 3600

Me too - they've made the mouse and the operating system, but I notice there's been no response in two months. Very poor service. I'll be replacing my mouse with a better brand.

There are so many articles on mouse lagging and stuttering and while some ideas had a definite impact others seems to be contradict one another. I listed what I found here. If you find something that works please post back so the next person benefits.

    1) If your computer has Realtek audio check to see if you are running FMAPP.exe. If so disable.

    2) Try to identify the process running your mouse in the task manager, right click, properties, Compatibility Tab, Compatibility Mode, run as Windows 7. I believe you will find the Setpoint process.

    3) Shut off your AV and test.

    4) Review your mouse and every USB hub and disable the computer’s ability to shut off to save power, this is done in Power Management tab for each device driver.

    5) Disable Cortana, there is a tutorial with the TenForums on this. You can leave search enabled, just kill Cortana.

    6) Update Video driver.

    7) Update all mouse drivers, vendors and others listed in Device manager. My Logitech shows but then there is a generic HID mouse. ( I saw you did updates of Logitech.)

    8) Under mouse Properties, accessed through old control panel, on Pointer options tab, disable Enhance pointer precision. ( This one someone said turning it on solved problem)

    9) Move Unifying key to Front of case rather than rear. (My keyboard has a USB port which my Unifying Key lives in to fix this bs. With UPS, cabling and Bluetooth radio it didn’t have a chance in rear.) (I wonder if 10 TB is producing more electromechanical interference.)

    10) While I could not find, some people reported turning off mouse smart sense filtering, likely in mouse properties.

    11) You could also try the setting, disable touch pad when external mouse detected.

I kind of "Jumped the gun" (figure of speech) when posting this. I was actually having problems with not only my mouse, but my keyboard, as well.

Since the post, I'd also installed an M.2 SSD, re-installed Windows 10 on the M.2, reformatted the 10TB HDD and am using it for data. I went ahead and just re-installed the basics, only to find the keyboard/mouse lag was still happening.

Just got home from work and I thought I'd take a shot in the dark and move my USB Unifying Receiver to a back USB 3.0 port and the problem "seems to" have solved itself.

That said, it might very well be the 10TB HDD.

Is there any way to remedy the situation such that I can move my USB Unifying Receiver back to the front?

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I barely got the M.2 installed last weekend and I was trying other solutions, first.

  6. A suggestion.

Try your mouse and keyboard plugged into USB 2.0
Try using your mouse and keyboard without the drivers from the manufacture. Let Windows install the drivers on reboot or startup.

I never did install any drivers for my keyboard and mouse. I did just that, let WIndows update take care of it. I did not install SetPoint. I'd tried both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the front of my computer with the same results, the lag for both keyboard and mouse.

    Hi Josh

Not sure what kind of case you have and what the internal slots are like. If the 10TB (what are you storing? *Shock kidding, I don't need to know) is causing "noise" can you re-position it away from front panel connectors. If tower use the lowest tray. Maybe your case has other options but the goal is separation.

Now a not pretty answer that might work, some wireless keys don't like, is to get an USB extension cord.

I would try reposition of 10TB even if it is just loose for test.

I would also watch routing of cables in case. Yes they should have some shielding but I would try to keep them away from USB connecting cables.
