Windows 10: Mouse scroll wheel stops working sometimes

I've recently upgraded W8.1 to W10. Since then I've been having this issue. Sometimes because of something, which I don't know what specifically, causes my mouse scroll wheel to stop working. I can scroll up and down by clicking the scroll wheel and then moving the cursor up and down on Chrome but can't do it without clicking. It's starting to annoy me, especially while using windows file explorer :S. I mean, I've also experienced this issue before the upgrade but not this frequently. Do you know what the problem is?

Unplugging and plugging back the usb cable won't fix it. Disabling and enabling back my mouse in Device Manager won't fix it, either. It can only be fixed by simply restarting.

P.S.: Before restarting, plugging another mouse to the computer results in scroll wheel functionality only for that mouse not for the other one.

below:

• Click Start > Settings.

• Under Choose how many lines to scroll each time, move the slider to the right to make the speed of your mouse wheel faster.

Standard MS Mouse scroll wheel just stopped working

Hi pjaj43,

The mouse scroll wheel suddenly stopped working might be due to a variety of reasons. One of which is due to outdated mouse device driver.

That being said, have you checked from your mouse driver manufacturer's website if they have a latest update for your mouse device?

What were the recent changes made on your PC before the mouse device started to not work?

Have you tried unplugging the mouse device, rebooting the PC, then plug the mouse device again? Did the same issue occur?

Is your Windows 10 up-to-date?

In the meantime, let's run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter
to find and repair problems with your devices and hardware.

• Right-click the Start icon, then select Control Panel.
  
• Choose the Large icons option from the View by
  drop-down list found on the upper-right part of the Control Panel window.
  
• Locate then select Troubleshooting.
  
• Click View all from the left pane.
  
• Locate and click Hardware and Devices to run the troubleshooter then follow the next steps.

Mouse Wheel Scroll Too Fast


Hi,
I have a Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse 2000, but, each time I slow the speed of the scrolling using the mouse wheel it works fine, until I reboot the PC. Then, on restarting the speed is super fast again (too fast to really control).
Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
