  1. mouse select, slide bar settings changed spontaneously

For years I have been able to select text in Word by just highlighting it with the mouse and then taking whatever action I wanted- drag and drop, delete, copy, etc., without having to click or double click the selected text to do so. Similarly, I could use a slide bar to get where I want to in a list such as emails in Outlook and then move the mouse to the list to click on the item. A few weeks ago that all changed spontaneously and I have been unable to determine why or how to change it back. Now if I select text I have to click and then take the action or, sometimes, select then move just t

  3. Wandering mouse

    Hi,

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to adjust the mouse speed and check if that helps to resolve the issue.

    • Type mouse on the search bar and select Mouse and touchpad settings.
    • Select Additional Mouse Settings.
    • Select Pointer Options and adjust the mouse speed under Motion.
If the issue still persists, I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

    2. Select Troubleshooting.

    3. Select View all on the top left corner.

    4. Click on Hardware and Devices.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

    6. Check if issue persists.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.

Can't change the mouse pointer size

    Hi,

There are different ways to change or customize your mouse settings. You can try the steps below on how to change the settings of your mouse:

    • Type Control Panel in the Search bar, and select
      Control Panel.
    • Go to Ease of Access.
    • Select Ease of Access Center.
    • Choose Make the mouse easier to use.
    • Under Mouse pointers, select Regular White or
Regular Black or Regular Inverting to set it to the smallest size.
    • Hit the Apply button, then click OK.

If the first method won’t work, try these steps:

    • Type Control Panel in the Search bar, and select
      Control Panel.
    • Type Mouse in the Search bar on the upper-right corner of the Control Panel window.
    • Select Mouse.
    • Go to the Pointers tab.
    • Under Scheme, click the drop-down arrow, and select
      (None).
    • Hit the Apply button, then select OK.

Let us know how it goes.
