Mouse stopped working in any usb port. Keyboard still works though needing quick assist..

So after a couple installs and an update for Windows 10, all of a sudden after restart, my usb mouse stopped working in any of the usb ports, computer doesn't even recognize it when plugged in, but for some reason my keyboard still works in all ports. And when I checked some event log thing it says that a driver still needs something. Ugh let me see if I can find it again.. This is so annoying without a mouse.. Something about requires further install.. Somebody help.. Found this event in event viewer kernel-pnp device configuration event 430 in case anybody wants to quick assist me, this should make it faster.Mouse stopped working in any usb port. 3. USB ports stopped working on Windows 7

Check the N97's USB cable for signs of damage at the USB end, and inspect USB ports on your mobo/case for signs of damage. Could be a short caused by damaged USB port. Gotta have good eyes when checking USB ports...

If you only installed the drivers for your N97 yesterday, there may be a conflict where the N97 driver installation came with some drivers that are conflicting with your USB drivers. Can you get a PS/2 keyboard? If there's no signs of damage to your cables/USB ports then the next step would be Device Manager.

I hang my head in stupidity... :shadedshu

External Mouse and Volume Keys on External Keyboard Stopped Working

I've been using an external mouse and keyboard with my laptop for a while now. A few days ago, the mouse stopped working. It's a wired mouse and the red light comes on when it's plugged in. At the same time, the top row of keys on my wired keyboard stopped working (the volume controls, mail button, home, customizable buttons, etc.). When I plug the mouse in, it appears under Other Devices in the Device Manager, listed twice as a USB Input Device. When I try to update the driver automatically, it says Windows was unable to. The mouse doesn't work in safe mode. I tried a wireless mouse as well and it doesn't work either. My external keyboard shows up under keyboards as an HID Keyboard Device and Windows says the best drivers for my device are already installed. I've tried all three USB ports and the mouse works on another computer. The built-in keyboard and touch pad on my laptop still work fine. What else can I do? Thanks in advance.
