  1. Mouse stuttering after laptop auto switches back to igpu

Hello! A couple days ago, I bought a Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X with a Ryzen 9 6900HS and an RTX 3050 Laptop GPU running on Windows 11 Home. I play Valorant from time to time and when I launch the game, Nvidia Control Panel notifies me that the laptop is switching to the discrete graphics card. It does this and the game runs really well. After I close the game, the laptop says that it is switching back to the integrated Radeon graphics. After it does this, the mouse starts stuttering really bad. I use a bluetooth mouse but the issue happens with the trackpad as well. When I move the mouse, it'll move

    :)

    Mouse Stutter

Was curious to know if anyone can weigh in on this...
I've had a weird mouse stutter where I think I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of and find online. I'm running the latest build of Windows 10. I keep all my drivers uptodate as well. With that said, I've tried the lastest NVidia Drivers, latest Mouse drivers for the mouse I'm using ( logitech g602). I've tried using Logitechs software and not using it.
    • reinstalled windows with a clean install
    • switched my router to 5ghz
    • tried bluetooth connection, ( seems worse than the wifi connection )
    • disabled Nvidia High Definition in Device manager
    • turned off the power off option under every USB peripheal in Device manager
    • Tried another usb port
    • tried another mouse... with this being said, I use a wacom tablet. This is studio machine so it's higher much higher end and should not suffer from the mouse lag but noticed this will stutter from time to time as well. But what I just realized this morning and just want to know if I could have a confirmation... I'm currently backing up an older large drive that uses USB 2.0. I'm using backblaze to get everything up as fast as I can.
Since i've had it uploading, I noticed moreso the stutter. Is it possible that this drive could be causing the stutter? If my thinking is correct, even tho it's just uploading online the drive is being accessed and if the USB connection is the bottle neck, I'm thinking this could cause a stutter with other USB peripheals regardless if they are are 3.0 or not

Cursor lag/stuttering when using iGPU in Windows 11 (possibly only under no load for explorer.exe)

    Hi NameHasbeenTaken,

Based on your update, it seems that the issue is related to the Dynamic Tick feature in Windows. The fact that the stuttering disappears when running Skype or copying files indicates that these actions are somehow affecting the system timer.

Here are some additional steps you could try to resolve the issue:

Disable Dynamic Tick using the following command in an elevated command prompt:

    bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes

Restart your computer and see if the stuttering is still present.

If disabling Dynamic Tick doesn't work, you could try changing the system timer resolution using the Timer Resolution utility.

This could potentially help if the issue is related to the timer resolution being too high.

You could also try disabling the Windows Audio Service to see if that affects the stuttering.

To do this, open the Services app (press Windows + R, type "services.msc" and press Enter), find the Windows Audio service, right-click on it and select "Properties", then change the startup type to "Disabled".

Restart your computer and see if the stuttering is still present.

I hope one of these solutions works for you! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks to Carlosmos for the suggestion:

It's possible that enabling the MUX switch in your BIOS could help fix the issue, but this will depend on your specific system configuration and the cause of the stuttering.

The MUX switch, also known as the "discrete graphics mode" or "dedicated graphics mode," allows you to choose whether your system uses the integrated graphics processor (iGPU) or the discrete graphics processor (dGPU) for rendering graphics. If the stuttering is related to a conflict between the iGPU and dGPU, then switching to dedicated graphics mode (dGPU only) could potentially resolve the issue.

However, it's important to note that enabling the MUX switch may also have some drawbacks, such as reduced battery life and increased heat generation. Additionally, not all systems have this option available in the BIOS, so it's worth checking your system documentation or contacting your manufacturer for advice before making any changes.

Overall, while enabling the MUX switch could be a potential solution, it's important to consider the potential trade-offs and explore other options first, such as those I mentioned earlier related to Dynamic Tick, Timer Resolution, and Windows Audio Service.

    Your Sincerely
