    I updated my laptop but during the update I accidentally turned it off or someone did, when I turned it back on I had no mouse/touchpad to use. I then tried factory reset but it failed, I tried a couple of different ways, but none worked, although my touchpad now works on the troublshooting screen but only that screen, but now when I turn on my laptop it loads ok sometimes, I enter my user password and takes ages to load to the home screen, but once the home screen loads no icons on the task bar, or by the clock. I can't use the keyboard or mouse/touchpad basically frozen or taking ages to

    You could face this issue due to corrupt our outdated Mouse and touchpad Drivers. I suggest you to follow the steps given below and check if it helps you.

    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • Have you installed all pending Windows updates?

    Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

    Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    a) Press Windows key + W and type
    troubleshooting.

    b) Select Troubleshooting.

    c) Select View all on the top left corner.

    d) Run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

    Move to next method if you still face this issue.

    Method 2: Update drivers from Device manager.

    Follow the steps to update drivers:

    1. Right click in the Start button
    and select Device Manager.

    2. Expand the Mice and other pointing device.

    3. Right click on the Mouse Device and select
    update drivers
    .

    Same way update the Touchpad drivers.

    Method 3: Uninstall and reinstall the Mouse and Touchpad driver from manufacturer’s website.

    Follow these steps to Uninstall Keyboard driver.

    a) Press Windows key + X and select
    Device Manager.

    b) Search for Mouse driver and expand it.

    c) Right click on the Mouse
    driver and select
    Uninstall.

    I suggest you to download the latest
    Mouse and Touchpad drivers
    from the manufacturers website.

    Never-ending issues with mouse/touchpad and with Microsoft Family time limits

    Hi,

    Regarding mouse and touchpad concern, we suggest that you install the latest driver update in device manufacturer's website. If the issue still persists, you check on this
    link and follow the steps or suggestions on how to resolve the issue on mouse and touchpad.

    And with Microsoft Family concern, you can try to remove the child account by following steps provided below:

    • Go to
      http://account.microsoft.com/family
      and sign in with your Microsoft account.
    • From Family tab select the Child account that you set on your son's account.
    • Click More and select Remove from Family.
    • Sign out and try to log in again.
    • Try to Add a child account. Check on this

      from the results.

    • Under Device, click Hardware and Devices.

    We also recommend that you download and install any pending updates that need to be installed on the computer through

    Windows Update
