Windows 10: Mouse touchpad on/off with F function key Asus R417N

I have a mouse touchpad and since my new 2018 laptop had only 30 gig hard drive and after unboxing I had to update windows 10. Surprise!!! Windows 10 with the upgrade was more that 30 gig...… Now because you can't have operating systems split on two drives and I only had one and lucky this laptop had room to plug in an additional internal hard drive, I was able to buy a SSD hard drive and reinstall my entire operating system (Win 10) to the new drive


Here is the part that you are looking for..... The touch pad used to be able to toggle on and off by using the f9 function but it doesn't since I reinstalled window on the new hard drive. How can I get this to work again?

There's a possibility that you're getting this concern due to an out-dated driver. For us to better assist you, we'd like to ask a few questions:

• Were there any recent changes prior to the issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you check if ASUS Touchpad is enabled on your device. To do that, you may follow these steps:

• Type Settingson the search bar and press Enter.
• Select Devices.
• Click Mouse & touchpad.
• Select Additional mouse options on the right pane.
• Choose Device Settings (some called ELAN) pane, check Yes/No of Touchpad. If
  No, click Enable and select OK.

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop


Hello everyone,
My laptop's touchpad works and I don't want it to, because I prefer a mouse. It's a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series on windows 10 OS.

What I have tried that hasn't worked:

• start<settings<devices<mouse & touchpad<additional mouse options. This opens a window called Mouse Options which has 5 tabs up top, none of which involve the touchpad. The Hardware tab shows 2 devices: the mouse itself, and the USB. No touchpad there.
• windows key+x<mobility center. No touchpad to be found.
• various function keys. No options for touchpad on/off.
• device manager<mice and other pointing devices. Again, only the mouse and usb show up. It appears the touchpad is working without a driver, which is a little spooky.

Any other suggestions? I could try downloading a third party driver, but that seems like a step in the wrong direction.
