Mouse waking computer when wake is disabled in Device manager

I'm confused. It's hot and the computer room is the hottest room in the house even when most of the equipment is shut down, so I have the ceiling fan set to maximum to supplement the air conditioning. I also have a medium room fan as well about 1 foot in diameter running.I just tried to put my computer to sleep and walk away from it, when a few seconds later it "woke up" with the screen lighting up.Acting on a hunch I tried to put it o sleep again and jiggled the mouse, and sure enough the screen lit up again. This is odd because I have "Allow this device to wake the computer" UNCHECKED in devi

How to stop mouse movement from waking the computer?

Thanks lgentry. I have a Microsoft wired keyboard and a Logitech wireless mouse. Under Device Manager>Keyboards it lists two "HID Keyboard Device"s and the Microsoft keyboard. Unchecking the "Allow this device to wake the computer" for the two HID keyboards fixed the problem as you suggested. Weird that one must prevent "keyboards" from waking the computer to in fact prevent the mouse from waking it.

Logitech M510 Mouse Keeps Waking Up Computer

    Hi,

It's always good to preserve your device's power by putting it on sleep mode. If your mouse is waking up the device, we suggest following the steps below as another workaround:

    • Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    • Once Command Prompt window opens, enter the following command: powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
    • You should be able to see the list of all devices that are allowed to wake up your computer. Enter
powercfg -devicedisablewake “device name” into Command Prompt to stop a device from waking up your PC. Remember to
replace “device name” with a name of the actual device. It’s also important to keep the quotation marks, so do not delete them.
    • You can also use powercfg -deviceenablewake “device name” command to enable certain device to wake up your PC, but it is optional. You can find the name of the specific device by using the Device Manager.

Keep us in the loop with the result.
