Windows 10: Mouse wheel on Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse doesn't work

I recently bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Ergonomic Mouse.It is fantastic, except that the scroll function doesn't work when using the wheel -- and it turns out that I never realized how much I use the mouse wheel until I bought a mouse with a non-working wheel,The wheel itself spins incredibly well, but it does not send a scroll signal to the computer, it seems.I have removed all software on my system that could potentially interfere with the mouse, but it doesn't fix anything.I have tried another mouse on the exact same computer and the wheel works. Microsoft Modern Mouse (Bluetooth) Scroll Wheel not working.

the scroll wheel on my Microsoft Modern Mouse (Bluetooth) stopped working. I have done all troubleshooting steps: system updates, installed Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Center, disconnected mouse and reconnected. Nothing has worked yet. Haven't yet tried
it on a different PC. Don't have another Microsoft PC. Have a MacBook, but not sure the mouse can work on that. Any suggestions?

 

Can I replace the Mouse from the Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop (Part #: L5V-00001) as it is broken

The scroll wheel on the mouse from my Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop (Part #: L5V-00001) has packed up. If I purchase a Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse

(Part #: L6V-00001)

1. will the new mouse work with the old reciever?
2. will the old keyboard work with the new reciever?
3. can I use the old reciever with the old keyboard and the new recieve with the new mouse at the same time?
4. do i have to buy a whole new set?
