Move Boot Raid-0 to Single SSD

My Win11 boot is two 500GB M.2 drives mounted as a RAID-0 array not my original choice - and they're running out of room. I want to change the boot to a new single 1TB SSD drive. I have three other internal HDDs mounted additional volumes and two external HDDs for backup and storage. The system is solid, pretty fast, no ongoing issues ...1. Is this the best way to upgrade the boot drives? a. create a system image backup on an external HDD b. install new internal SSD uninstall the M.2s at this point ...? c. boot to a USB d. restore system image to the new SSD2. ASOS

    :)

  2. Cloning a Windows installation (RAID 0) to single SSD (non-RAID) fails

Hi ClintLGM (& everyone else who's chipped in)

Thanks for this. Can I check what (I think) you are suggesting...I should make a disk image with MR to e.g. an external disk. Then pull the RAID-0 array, attach the new disk and leave the mode as RAID (for now). Then I could boot from the MR recovery USB and restore from the external disk to the new SSD? If all goes well I should then be able to boot - and follow the steps necessary to switch the drive over to AHCI??

If you could check my thinking on this that would be really helpful....

    Best wishes,

    Jon

Cloning a Windows installation (RAID 0) to single SSD (non-RAID) fails

I have done this procedure several times on my front desk workstation. It had been set up in RAID 0 so that I could use two older SSD that had been upgraded on other workstations.
Migrating back to single SSD was very simple using MR, To Begin with, RAID 0 is a simple volume array on two or more disks. Still, it is a simple volume.
Creating a Full Disk Image of that Volume will capture the RAID driver as part of the Image.
Restoring at least using MR is accomplished by restoring to a single Drive, Which will boot as a single volume on a single disk. At that point, if RAID 0 is required or wanted that 2nd disk is introduced and the RAID 0 is recreated onto both disk.
As I did was to keep the volume on one single SSD and it remains today in RAID mode. Single SSD no RAID array created. I have to state that all my workstations and notebooks are using UEFI/GPT, I don't think the procedure is any different for a BIOS/MBR system. This is all detailed in the Macrium Reflect User Manual. See post 6 in this thread Migrating OS from RAID 0 to a single SSD Solved - Windows 10 Forums
If you wish to change from RAID to AHCI that procedure would be a separate operation.

Migrating OS from RAID 0 to a single SSD

Thanks topgun.. yeah I figured that the Raid 0 only appears as one drive so it shouldn't be any different except when booting up on SSD. Need to set up the bios for ahci.
