Windows 10: Move "My Documents" to new drive, keep it synced with One Drive

Hello, My computer had a 128 GB drive C: and I just added a new larger drive D:. On that first drive C: I have the operating system, programs and files. To save space and keep a backup, I have all my files My Documents, Desktop synced with One Drive. My intention is to move all my files from the C: drive to the new D: drive, but not lose synchronization with OneDrive. Is there a way to move all the "user" files and folders to the new drive and maintain synchronization and automatic backup with OneDrive? Thanks for the help.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Plug USB hard drive into old computer.
• Open File Explorer (Win+E) and open the USB drive.
• Open another File Explorer window and open your documents folder.
• Drag files to the USB drive.
• Move drive to new computer.
• Drag files to their new homes in the matching documents/pictures/videos/whatever folders you use to organize.

No One Drive sync

Equipment:

1. Microsoft 950 Windows Phone.
   
2. Microsoft Surface Pro 8 running Windows 11 Professional.
   
3. HP All-in-one Desktop running Windows 11 Professional.
   

Background:

I used One Drive to sync files between the Microsoft phone and the HP computer. I didn’t realize the Surface Pro was syncing to One Note until I transferred a folder (using a USB drive) to the Surface Pro and received a notice that that my One Drive was full. I deleted some files from both of my computers and One drive. The hurricane brought my work to an end and I don’t know what I did (step-by-step) prior to the shutdown.

Now:

Now I have no One Drive connection between the 3 Equipment items. How do I get back?

 

Reinstall Windows 10 to new hard drive

We want to know about the issue you're having with your recovery drive. Please answer the questions below:

• Are you trying to reinstall Windows 8 or Windows 10?
• If you already upgraded to Windows 10, were you able to create a new copy of the recovery drive?

We suggest creating a new copy of the recovery drive and then follow the steps provided by Andre Da Costa above this thread.
