  1. move to a new ssd and keep windows activation

specs: Laptop: ASUS 2016, Windows 10, Samsung SSDHello, so long story short the original hard drive that was in my laptop HHD has failed me, and in the meanwhile until I can get that resolved, I want to just start fresh with a new hard drive, this time a SSD. I have a Windows ISO USB the official media creation tool provided from the microsoft website however it wasn't created on my original hard drive/computer and my laptop was pre-built bought from chain electronic store and from what I've gathered it's an OME so it should have a windows activation key built inside of the motherboard

    :)

    New SSD activate Windows

I just upgraded my computer and purchased an SSD. I cloned my HDD and am now running Windows 10 from my new SSD. It would appear that I need to Activate Windows again now that it has been changed, but I'm unable.

    I followed the guide here:

Reactivating Windows after a hardware change - Microsoft Support

When I get to the step:

The troubleshooter will show a message that Windows can’t be activated on your device. Select I
changed hardware on this device recently, and then select Next.

I'm prompted to enter a Microsoft account. No matter what I enter here I get the error. Oops something went wrong. The service isn't available.

I can't proceed past this step.

Activating Windows 10 on new SSD

    Hi there

I have the Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version with an OEM license activated on my laptop. I would like to replace my HDD with an SSD. I would like to understand how to activate the license on the new SSD. Please note that i would prefer to do a fresh install
of the OS rather than cloning my HDD to SSD. Would the license be activated automatically or would there be any other steps involved. Please note that i would
not be changing the motherboard, just the hard drive. Thanks in advance for your help and support.

New windows 10 installtion on New SSD - wont boot unless old SSD present

It seems you installed Windows while the both SSDs were connected. This would have caused your current problem. Maybe it is sufficient to do this:

    1. Launch the Disk Manager.
    2. Right-click drive C:, then mark it as "active".
    3. Shut down Windows
    4. Open the BIOS and tell it that the new SSD is the primary boot device.
    5. Disconnect the old SSD.
    6. Boot up normally.

If this does not work then you might have to do this:

    1. Disconnect the old SSD.
    2. Re-install Windows on the new SSD, using the Media Creation Tool.
