Moved ‘Music’ to top level of secondary E: drive and now it can’t fix it.

I needed space on my main SDD. I saw that the music file could be moved based on advice online. I did so, to the top level of Drive E: and now my ‘Music’ folder is my entire E: drive. The “Restore Previous Location” doesnt work. The attempt to move it into a subfolder in the drive doesnt work. Nothing works to fix this. What is more concerning, there are SEVERAL threads on THIS SITE with the same issue, all locked, none with a fucntional solution. THIS is why i CAN NOT STAND you and your products. Once youve made your cash, the “support” just doesnt exist. So is there a REAL solution to this, or am i just hosed?

Do NOT tell me to make another user account. Multiple threads indicate that DOES NOT work.

Do NOT tell me to “just move it back” or “Restore previous location”, multiple threads and my own attempts indicate that DOES NOT work.

I need a REAL solution, not a Microsoft “Support” “Try this and go away” answer.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

  3. My data folders (Documents, Pictures, Videos, Music, etc) are on DRIVE E: not Drive C:

I THINK the programs are looking in the wrong place.

All my Programs are stored on Drive C:

Drive D: is my Recovery Image

Drive E: is where all my Data files were stored (Documents-Pictures-Videos, etc).

    Drive F: has: Clipart-Document Themes 14-Media-MSOCache-Office 14 - Stationery - and Templates.

Hewlett Packard set my computer system up.

Before I did what you suggested above about MOVING files - I had only one listing for Drive EMoved ‘Music’ to top level of secondary E: drive and now it can’t fix it. :(DATADRIVE1-Docs-Pics-Video-Music). Now Drive E: shows up listed under THIS PC as E:\ (and it contains ALL my data - docs-Pics-Video-Music)). All these data
folders also show up listed under THIS PC in the DOCUMENT folder; AND, all the datat folders also show up in DATADRIVE1-Docs-Pixs-Music-Video!!!! Whatever happened when I moved the files caused them to appear in several places!

I don't think the programs know where to find anything!!!! DUD!

I also have 4 external Western Digital hard drives (but I don't have all of them plugged in simultaneously). My problem with the external hard drives is that now Windows does recognize my 6 TB one - I know it is working because the little light is on and
blinking....the drive just does not show up in File Explorer.

    Do you have any suggestions?

Moving Librariy files and folders to secondary hard drive

    Hi Bailey,

We appreciate you for being part of Windows 10.

Yes, as you said you will face problems if you cut and paste the library folders to the new hard drive. If you cut and paste the libraries folder some of the Windows functions such as Downloads, Music, Pictures and Videos
    will not work properly

If you want to access the library folders in the new hard drive, I suggest you to copy the Library folders (Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos). Follow the steps to copy the library folders.

    • Press Windows + E keys on the keyboard to open Windows explorer.

    • Find the Libraries on the left navigation pane of the Windows Explorer. (If libraries are not there, click on
View tab at the top of Windows explorer, click on Navigation pane and select the
      Show Libraries)

    • Now, right click on Libraries from the left navigation pane and click on
      Copy.

    • Open the new hard drive and paste the Libraries folder by pressing
CTRL + V key on the keyboard. (paste the libraries folders on the new hard drive where ever you want)

As you have less space on the primary hard drive, I suggest you to follow the below article to free up drive space.

Free up drive space in Windows 10

I hope the above information helps. Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
