MP4 files won't load in HD Movie Maker - Pro

I am experiencing a major issue in the paid version of this application right now, on my Windows 10 laptop. MP4 files have stopped loading in this version of Movie Maker though they were working fine before, and I installed the video converter to help resolve
the issue, which did allow me to convert video files into the MP4 format that it provides. However, these files are still not compatible for some reason even though HD Movie Maker - Pro displays the error message:

Unsupported video format. Please use the Convert Video quick tool to convert your video clip to MP4 format before trying again.

Could anyone give me a fix for this happening even after I have used Convert Video to assure that the files are of the correct MP4 format?

 

Windows Movie Maker not recognizing .avi files

We would suggest you to repair the Windows Live Movie Maker and check.

Follow the below steps to repair Windows Live Movie Maker.

• Type appwiz.cpl in the search box and hit Enter.
• Right click Windows Essentials 2012 and select repair.

Movie Maker Audio No Sound!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I understand that you are unable to hear audio from the video file in Movie maker. Be rest assured I will provide you with the steps to try and fix the issue.

Method 1:

This could also be the issue if the video files are not supported by Movie maker.

You may convert the format of the video by using a video converter and try again.

To change the audio volume of a music item

• 
  Click the music.
  
• 
  Under Music Tools, on the Options tab, in the
  Audio group, click Music volume, and then move the slider left to lower the volume or right to increase it.
  

To change the volume of the audio in a video

• 
  Click the video.
  
• 
  Under Video Tools, on the Edit tab, in the Audio group, click
  Video volume, and then move the slider left to lower the volume or right to increase it.
  

Method 2:

Type "services" in the Windows search box

From the list of services, choose Windows Audio

Stop the service, then

Start the service.
