Windows 10: Movies and TV app won't switch to English audio track

[Windows Version 10.0.19044.2364]I'm trying to play an MKV file with multiple audio channels associated with different languages using the Movies and TV app. M&TV decides for some strange reason to play the French audio track even though my default system language is English. I can switch to any of the other audio channels Portuguese, Spanish but not English. If I select English, the selection is ignored and playback continues in French. VLC has no problem playing the English channel by default, even. How do I get M&TV to play the English audio channel?There was a similar post he

Windows 10 Movies and TV App Cant Switch Audio Tracks

Just as the title says. I have video files of various file types (mainly .mkv and .mp4) that have multiple audio tracks w/ different audio languages and environments (ex. Eng 2.0, Eng 5.1, Fr 2.0, Sp 2.0, Eng DTS, etc.). Movies and TV app "sees" all of
these different tracks and offers the audio track selection pulldown, but the selection does nothing.

Issue 1: When I select the audio track I want from the pull down menu, the audio doesn't switch to my selection and turn off the other audio tracks (see #2).

Issue 2: The App plays all the available audio tracks in the file at the same time. Very annoying

Issue 3: The default audio track the app selects on launch never corresponds to my language preference (english).

I've run the troubleshooter to no avail, as well as resetting the App with the advanced configs. Audio tracks play and switch fine in VLC player.

Any Ideas?

WMP chooses last track as default, so to fix that bug then we copy first track again in the end. Then you have the other Microsoft app Movies & TV, which seems to have completely random logic for which track it chooses as default. So where does that leave
application developers who want to make sure their applications can save MP4 files with multiple audio tracks compatible with Microsoft's applications? We really need some answers here so hope you can help.

What is the logic? is it a bug? when will it be fixed? any known workaround (meta data to add that can make it select first or last track as default)?

Hi,

I suggest you to un-install and re-install Movies & TV App and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key.
• Type Windows Powershell.
• Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
• Type in the following command to un-install Movies & TV App.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneVideo* | remove-appxpackage

Note: The Movies & TV App can be reinstalled using the Store App or by following the link mentioned below. You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling the app.

Get Movies & TV from the Microsoft Store
