Windows 10: Movies and TV freezing

Hello,


I have purchased and downloaded quite a few series and movies from the movies and tv app. However when I go to play them, the app freezes about ten seconds after I open it. If I select the file directly in my browser it will play that episode with no problems...unless I press pause. Then I have to close the app, reselect the video file and skip to where I was in the first ten seconds or I have to repeat the process over again. I have tried every single recommendation given to the other threads and none of them worked. I've tried setting movies and tv as my default app, repairing the app, re-registering the app, uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling from the hub, checked drivers, even tried copying the files to a 3.0 thumb drive and playing them on the M&T app on my Xbox 1X Which won't work because it says "Playback of protected video files is not supported." and NONE of it worked.

I'm in a place with restricted internet access and it would be nice if I could watch some of my purchases at the end of the day even when they shut off the internet.


So I'm up for suggestions if you've got them.

Movies & TV app not working properly.

Hi,

I suggest you to un-install and re-install Movies & TV App and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key.
• Type Windows Powershell.
• Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
• Type in the following command to un-install Movies & TV App.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneVideo* | remove-appxpackage

Note: The Movies & TV App can be reinstalled using the Store App or by following the link mentioned below. You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling the app.

Movies & TV app freezes

I am using Movies & TV app but since lately it’s been an issue. After several clips it keeps freezing and the screen freezes as well
