Windows 10: Movies & TV app no longer showing up as either default video player, or on the apps list...

I have tried repair. Then deleted and reinstalled the Movies and TV app. Then tried going into system settings and selecting DEFAULT APPS and trying to change it there. No matter what I do, Moves & TV app no longer shows up as an option. It was truly the best Windows 11 app for viewing videos. What has happened?

Hi Luckykiba, I understand your issue and will try my best to resolve it. Please try these steps below and let me know how it goes:

• 1. Go to Settings App and select "System" to display System Settings.
  
• 2. There select the "Default apps".
  
• 3. Now click on the current video player name (Movies & TV) under Video player option and then select your new video player from "Choose an App" selection window, whichever you want to use. You can also search for a new video player apps in the Windows store by clicking on Look for an app in the Store option.
  

Remember this settings will apply for Windows 10, if you've Windows 11 then let me know because it's slightly different.

Kindly try the suggested methods below

1. Update Movies and TV app

Open Microsoft Store then click Library

Update Movies and TV app or click Get Updates

2. Repair Movies and TV App

Open Settings

Select Apps > Installed apps

Find Movies and TV in the list then click it

Select Advanced options > Click Reset

3. Uninstall Movies and TV App

Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator

Copy and paste the command below then press Enter

get-appxpackage *ZuneVideo* | remove-appxpackage

Proceed to reinstall Movies and TV

4. Go to the Microsoft Store then download and install the Movies and TV app again

or copy and paste the command below then press Enter

Get-AppXPackage *ZuneVideo* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Restart your computer

Movies & TV app not working properly.

Hi,

I suggest you to un-install and re-install Movies & TV App and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key.
• Type Windows Powershell.
• Right click on it and select Run as administrator.
• Type in the following command to un-install Movies & TV App.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneVideo* | remove-appxpackage

Note: The Movies & TV App can be reinstalled using the Store App or by following the link mentioned below. You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling the app.
