    Hey there. I have a simple question. I have been conducting a decent amount of research but was not able to find an answer to my question, so this is my second to last resort. I have an encrypted folder on my computer which has 2 volumes. My roommates and I share this computer for various activities and entertainment but anywho, I gave one of my roommates access to the file but I need to move that file to the other volume.Will my file remain encrypted and will my roommate still be able to access it or is there some type of process that I have to go through before I move it? I don't want to mes

    Hi Iman,

    Error message 0x80071771 means that you need to restore the file encryption key in order for you to decrypt the encrypted files. On the other hand, you can still try these steps and see if it will work:

    • Right-click the file or folder that you want to decrypt.
    • Click File ownership and click Personal.

    My suggestion to you is to look into what kind of encryption the program used, and look for a way to break that type of encryption. Sorry I can't say a specific program for sure.
