Windows 10: moving files from OneDrive to laptop hard drive and stopping sync

I used OneDrive to move files and settings from my old laptop to my new laptop both running Windows 10. However, the files themselves do not appear to be on my new laptop, but are stored in OneDrive. I want to complete the move i.e., have document and photo files stored on my C drive and only sync selected files to OneDrive. I am unable to figure out how to do this. I changed the sync settings using the OneDrive icon in the notifications area so that my documents and photos will no longer sync to OneDrive but now I cannot access them from my PC and my local Photos and Documents folders are empty. I also cannot save an open WORD document.

Also, i recently uploaded a large number of photos to what I thought was the photos folder on my PC but appears to have been OneDrive and consequently my OneDrive is overfilled and unable to sync. I do not appear to have been successful in deleting photos from my OneDrive account to bring the storage down to the limit. Any help would be appreciated.

Moving Pictures to the D drive and syncing with Onedrive?

I have Documents, Pictures, etc sync with OneDrive and it has always worked just fine. I got a new laptop that has a 2nd hard drive in it and I want to move all my pictures over there since they almost fill up the primary drive on their own. I already had OneDrive syncing the folders in their standard locations and was getting an error when I tried to move Pictures to go to D:\Pictures.

I found an article from Microsoft that if it's been moved once (into the Onedrive normal location) it will give an error if you try to move it again and that I should reset where the folder points via the registry. I did that and it worked fine and I was able to "move" the Pictures location to D:\Pictures.

However, this seems to have broken the link between Pictures and the OneDrive Pictures that I already have. I turned on the built in Backup setting for Pictures but it only saw the empty local folder and didn't bring down the thousands of pictures I already have in OneDrive. Is there some way to manually tell OneDrive to link its Pictures folder with my Windows 'Pictures' folder/library now that it's been moved to D:\Pictures folder to get sync working again?

How to move the Microsoft Office File Cache when using Office 2016 and the Next Generation OneDrive Sync Client?

I have Office 2016 and use the Next Generation OneDrive Sync Client, both running under Windows 10.

My computer has two drives with one partition each:

• C: a small solid state disk for OS, applications and some hand-selected files that require high access speeds
  
• E: a large hard disk drive
  

My OneDrive libraries are set to sync with folders on drive E:.

I have attempted to upload 135 GB data spread over 85,377 files in 9,273 folders into one of my OneDrive libraries. During upload I realized that OneDrive builds up a huge OfficeFileCache in C:\Users\Hauke\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache. The OfficeFileCache grew to 25 GB in size -
and then my C: drive was full. When this point was reached, OneDrive stopped working with the helpful error message "OneDrive stopped working".

I want to keep my OfficeFileCache, and especially I want to keep cached files for the default 14 days. But I want the cache to be built on the E: drive.

So my question boils down to: How do I tell my system to build the OfficeFileCache on the E: drive instead of the C: drive?

By the way: I already tried to modify the system registry as suggested here: OneDrive wastes my SSD drive space Unfortunately the key OfficeCacheLocation does not seem to be respected by Office 2016 or the Next Generation OneDrive Sync Client, neither in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet nor in the ...\16.0\... one.
