    Moving from Win 7 to a new machine with Win 11. Is there an ap I can download that will tell me which software will work on 11, and which will not? I'd rather know ahead of time.

    How to move Win 7 license over to a new rig?

    I know this topic has come up before. First, clear the air... this is a legit Win 7 Ultimate install/key.

    I'll be building a new system and want to uninstall Win 7 from the current system and reinstall with a new MB, CPU and memory. I want to do a clean install, this one was buggered when Windows Update was running (I didn't know at the time), and I was trying to uninstall Norton. It's not pretty.

    I've got 2 problems:

    • I don't know the original key (I have used Belarc Advisor before with success, are there any other tools?)
    • I don't know exactly what flavor of Win 7 I have on this PC. I don't even know if it's retail or OEM. How do I find what image I need?

    Upgrade after building new machine to comply with Win 11 system requirements

    I'm running Win 10 but need to build a new machine that can support all Win 11 requirements. If I need to build a new machine, will my Win 11 upgrade still be free?

    Why Win 7 as Vista gets DX 11?

    I have DX 11 on my rig running Vista. I know I still need a new ATi 5K card for DX 11, but I don't see the need to buy Win 7 now.

    Sure, for quite awhile I pissed at both 32/64 Vista as Win Explorer would lock up at any given time. That has been fixed and now I am happy with Vista. I felt the necessity to upgrade to Vista for DX 10 and the new look. The new look of Win 7 looks like Vista to me. I am happy Vista gets DX 11 as Win 7 doesn't seem a necessity for the gamer in me.

    So why spend the $ on Win 7 when that $ can be going towards a sweet ATi 5K card? Or you could spend the $ saved on a copy of MW2. *Roll :roll:
