    Moving OS Drive To A New Build


    Hi,
    hope this is the right forum. just wanting to check i'm good to go on a system rebuild;
    as per my other thread, i've got some new parts [mobo, cpu, DDR4, PSU] that i'm going to put into my build that has become flaky. after chats on another forum, i discovered you can now transfer your OS over, instead of having to do the new installation etc that i've always done in the past. So -
    - my Win10 is on an SSD, set up as a GPT partition etc
    - the new mobo [Aorus Z490 Elite AC] appears to have all the correct BIOS settings as default as regards CPM and Win10
    - my Windows license is a Win 7 retail that i bought back in the day, and got the free upgrade to Win 10

    so, just to double-check, am i good to just connect everything up, possibly set the boot order to the SSD, and it should fire up okay and do its stuff to align itself w/ the new components? I have a second drive that contains all my data etc, should i just connect it all up, or is there any worth in just connecting the OS drive, letting it get all sorted and updated etc, and then connecting up the 2nd drive? i've heard odd things can happen on a new installation if you have multiple drives, but that hopefully shouldn't be an issue here.

    Help with OS Transfer on a new build

    Need some help figuring out what I need to do for a fresh build tomorrow. I will be moving off of my old CPU and mobo to a new X99 system. Right now I have my OS on a Sata SSD and want to transfer it onto a new NVME drive.

    Some issues:
    • I have a windows 10 upgrade from a RETAIL windows 7 license so I should have migration rights correct?
    • I have 3 other non-OS drives so after I do the install with my old/ current Microsoft account will my fresh install of windows recognise those drives?
    If you guys could shed some light on how to do this or advice please lend a hand. thanks!

    Moving OS to New Drive

    Hey everyone. I know this has been answered plenty of time but I need some help on this. I want to move my W10 Pro OS from my M.2 hard drive to a new SSD. I'd like to move the whole drive to a new drive though so nothing will break. I have some programs
    installed on it including several other things but everything downloaded and documents are all on my second drive. Is this possible?? Can someone help me out please Moving OS Drive To A New Build :).

    Or is it possible just to start over on a whole new drive with a clean OS with W10 Pro, unless something gets screwed up by a productkey .
