Windows 10: Moving paging file to seperate partition on same drive ?

I was wondering if there would be an advantage to moving the paging file to a separate partition on the same SSD keeping all the software on the "C" Drive & games on "E" Drive.

Or

Would this only work if I used another SSD of 30gb size ?

I am wondering this through my mind at the moment see picture for layout below ?





Your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated & I am doing this just to see if I can improve performance even more ?

How can I increase size of C drive

Is the D: drive on the same hard drive as C: ?? If it's a seperate external drive your out of luck. If it's on the same hard drive it's pretty easy to merge the C: and D: partitions together to make one big partition.

You have far too many partitions. I would use a tool such as
AOMEI to reduce their number while expanding the size of the system partition.

As a short-term measure you can move the paging file from drive C: to one of the other partitions.

Control.exe / System / Advanced System Settings / Performance / Advanced / Virtual Memory. Select "No paging file" on drive C:, then a system-managed paging file on a different partition.

You cannot point the newly created Admin account at an existing profile folder. It will not work. You will have to recreated the old setting manually.

 

As I see it having a separate partition for the pagefile has only disadvantages. It is the same problem with all partitioning schemes, one partition runs short on space while others have space to spare. Organization is best accomplished with folders, not partitions. It will not improve performance. With a conventional drive it would impair it.

Most attempts to optimize the pagefile are wasted effort. If you have a reasonable amount of RAM, and the 32 GB according to your profile is more than reasonable, it will not be used enough to make a difference. You could put it on a separate drive but that will only conserve space on the main drive. It would gain nothing in performance unless your system was pushed to it's limits and the pagefile was much used. Even the the gains would be marginal.

Well what I am thinking is the pagefile is were all the read/writes are, "C" Drive would just be a read drive as would "E" Drive so "D" Drive can be slow formatted once a month to keep the "trim" actions at top performance as this is were most read/writes take place apart from Internet Security updates on "C" takes place & software / win updates ?

 

On an SSD it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. Just like fragmented files and defragging is completely NOT applicable to SSDs.
