  1. Moving to a new SSD

I have a desktop PC with a 930GB hard drive only 220 GB used; it's working ok but for various reasons I'd like to get a SSD drive and move to it. My nearby PC service company says they can easily install the new disk, and upgrade from my current Windows 7 to Windows 10. However they say they can migrate only data - not programs - to the new disk. What's involved in moving programs? I have over 70 7GB installed. Do I need to uninstall them all, and reinstall from the Web I no longer have most of the original media though they're all licensed and legal. Ouch! I'm planning to keep my current

    SSD Crucial Bx 100 - rattling/vibrating. Possible?

This has been suggested several times already, and it has been suggested you try to move the SSD, remove it, or even suspend it in your case. Will you please try one of these?

If you don't understand vibration and resonance, please refer to @dorsetknob 's post above. *Smile Moving to a new SSD :) It has been explained that something else moving/vibrating (even if you don't think they're vibrating they are...), fans, hard disk drives, and anything with a motor will cause some form of vibration at certain frequencies. This can be transfered through your case's chassis and where you mounted your SSD could be reaching a certain frequency that causes it to slightly move and rattle against the case.

We are suggesting you take action and report back..you keep asking questions from step 1...we should be on step 4 by now...that is solution.

Try what has been suggested and report back please. Otherwise all you're doing is leading this thread in an endless circle and the help will stop shortly thereafter.

    *Toast :toast:

  3. Move SSD (with windows 10) from old to new desktop

    Hello Greg,

I may try your suggestion of moving the SSD and buying a new windows 10 license. I also marked question answered in your first post.

In hindsight, I should have not upgraded to W10 and saved $139. Then built the new PC & bought a new W10 license.

    Moving to a new SSD

How to move Windows 10 pro from 1 ssd to another ssd?

Hello, i just bought a faster SSD than the one that I currently use for my Windows 10. Of course i'd like to move my OS to the new SSD. The new SSD is slightly smaller than my current one (25 GB difference), but my current SSD is only 72% full (out of a
    total of 525 GB), so I imagine that's not a problem (?).

Now, I'm just trying to figure out 2 things:

    1. how to do it?
    2. after moving my OS to a new SSD, will my windows stay activated? i really don't want to buy a new windows license for this..
One would think that it'd be enough to copy all files and folders, but i imagine it can't be that easy 'Moving to a new SSD :D

Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me out, kind microsoft community Moving to a new SSD :)
