    MP 550 wont do scanning without ink


    I know that this is not possible on many printers but i saw some options by clicking reset button few seconds and some variations?

    I do not know if I did it right or it just doesnt work. Can you tell me is this option available on this printer-scanner-copier.? To scan without ink? I am missing just one ink,the last one C I think.

    Unable to scan documents using Cannon Pixma MP 550 printer

    My scanner/printer is a Canon Pixma MP 550. Two ink cartons are empty and the scanner refuses to scan to the computer without them.

    Is there anything to be done. Urgent!

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    I understand that you are unable to scan the documents without ink in the cartridges. Please reply to the following questions to help you further:



    • What is the complete error message that you receive when you try to scan?
    • How are you trying to scan the documents?


    However, you can try resetting the ink detection and see if that helps in resolving the issue. To reset the ink detection press and hold the Stop/Reset button on the printer for 5 seconds, once you hear an alarm sound release the button. Now, you will
    be able to scan the documents.



    Alternatively, I suggest you to install the latest software from
    Cannon website     and try scanning the documents.



    Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
