Mp3 file properties not editable / 3rd party software not downloading files following MS update

I have a laptop with Windows 10 operating system v1903. Since the latest update I have 2 problems 1. I cannot edit the properties of MP3 files even though these are not read only checked and 2. the 3rd party software I use to download mp3 files no longer downloads at all. Also all my folders now seem to be read only and I can uncheck but the change isn't saved and they simply revert back to read only. I have tried the usual fixes bring files into Media Player and edit, change attributes for files and folders, uninstall / reinstall the software and nothing works. Has anyone had similar issues and any bright ideas?

    :)

The screenshot that you sent us shows that your Windows 10 has its latest version which is the Creators Update. To isolate the issue, provide us with the following information:

    • Were MP3 files that you're trying to edit downloaded from the Internet or purchased online?
    • Are you using a third-party audio software to edit your MP3 files?

Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

Losing all metadata when editing a single property on an MP3 file

I agree with the Eagle. If you want to mass edit metadata for MP3 files, then it is best to have it all laid out in front of you to edit... so you don't have to open the Properties window for each file. Even though this is a 3rd party program, it's a very useful and productive program to use if you do mass metadata editing.

Win. 10 Unable to Edit Properties of Mp3 files

Right click the MP3 file in File Explorer and choose Properties, make sure Read Only is Unchecked. If you unchecked it, then save it and close it an reopen it. the Read Only box should remain unchecked. Now go to the Details tab, here you can edit the tags, to the Title of the file, Contributing Artist, Album Name, Year and Track # etc
If this fails, then try a 3rd party MP3 tagger: Best Free MP3 Tag Editor | Gizmo's Freeware
