MRT.exe issue

Hi.
Since the last security update, last tuesday, I cannot run MRT.exe; it returns this message:
MRT.exe blocked by policies: contact system administrator. (translation from italian)

Anyway I could do to run it again? Thank you.
Joe

:)

2. What does mrt.exe /RE

mrt.exe /RE is the only switch of mrt.exe that request admin credentials. What is this switch trying to accomplish?

3. What does mrt.exe /RE

I understand what mrt.exe is my question is What is the switch /re accomplish? Does it write a log file? Does it force a reboot. Why does it nedd access to the c drive. MRT is only a system file correct? Running mrt.exe /r /re request admin account
ruining mrt.exe /r does not. What do this hidden switches do?

4. MRT.exe issue

Interesting, this issue has been spreading lately. For reference:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - Windows 10 Forums

Try to run this as admin:

Code: reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun" /f reg delete "HKU\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun" /f reg delete "HKU\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun" /f reg delete "HKU\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\DisallowRun" /f
You could do a Registry Backup and remove all policies, that would reset some settings to default.

If it would help, you could restore the backup and backtrack to the cause by looking for it.
Code: reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f reg delete "HKCU\Software\Policies" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Policies" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Policies" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Policies" /f
